Texas Paralegal Schools provide students the education needed to get started in a legal career. Although there are no minimum education requirements to become a paralegal in the state of Texas, a formal education has emerged as the standard based on recommendations from the state bar association board of directors and various certification programs. There are numerous Texas Paralegal Schools. At least ten of these programs have been approved by the American Bar Association (ABA) and even more programs are American Association for Paralegal Education member schools. In addition there are numerous other Texas Paralegal Schools that are institutionally accredited.

When selecting Texas Paralegal Schools it is important to choose one that is accredited in one of these three ways. This will ensure that the program has been carefully evaluated and approved by an outside accrediting organization and will adequately prepare students to begin work in the legal field. For convenience many students are turning to Texas Paralegal Schools with online programs and while there are many such programs that meet the accreditation/approval standards there are many others that due not. Prospective students need to be very careful when choosing an on -line program and make sure it is accredited or approved by the ABA.

Prospective students may want to contact some potential employers (law firms and corporate legal departments) to find out what they expect in a Para legal or what they look for when hiring a Para legal. Then a prospective student will have the insight into the training needed and can find a suitable program that is accredited or approved or approved by the ABA. Para Legal programs that offer internships my provide an advantage for finding a job on completion of the program. An internship provides job experience and  job recommendations for the student finishing at  approved Texas Paralegal schools.
